Answer by bill j

A rebellion comes from within. An insurgency is an attack from the outside. But politicians will use whichever word best suits their position. Or invent new ones. That is what politicians do.

Answer by f100_supersabre

You got it right, it depends on your point of view.

Answer by alexander

They are synonyms, but are used depending on the point of view. Rebellion has a connotation of oppressed people rising up. Insurgency has a connotation of malcontents trying to bring down the government.

An insurgency is NOT an attack from an outside entity. Definitions can be found on any online dictionary.

A terrorist to some is a revolutionary for others. While the act of terrorism is to be condemned, can all political activists (who choose violent means) be terrorists? Bhagat Singh was a revolutionary for us, Indians. And we celebrate that revolutionary. While for the British he was a terrorist.

Answer by yakngirl

The difference is defined by their beliefs, but.a domestic terrorist is someone who tries to make a political point by using terrorist tactics.

Answer by Lisa

Yes, it’s a good question because the patriot act allows the government to basically throw out the 4th amendment and wire tap and search people that are suspected terrorists without warrants or probable cause. Normally to be able to throw out the 4th amendment (i.e. wiretapping, etc. like FISA), one party has to be outside the US so therefore they would have less of an expectation of privacy and terrorists can be much more easily surveillanced because of this. But when the act also includes domestic terrorism, it broadens the scope for law enforcement to search and wiretap American citizens within the US, without probable cause. They can basically decide someone who they want to go after, is a “domestic terrorist” (even low level criminals if they say so) and take away people’s constitutional rights. Although I completely condemn illegal activity in general, this act gives the government way more power to go after people when they normally would be constitutionally restricted to do so. It makes it a slippery slope. So yes we should definitely question what the exact definition of a “domestic terrorist” is.

Evil people will always exist in the world. We can have the most strict and evasive laws in the world, and evil people will still get away with doing evil things. But once we surrender our personal freedoms, we will never get them back.

2 Bank Workers Killed in Alabama Robbery

Published: 5/14/07, 12:05 PM EDT

BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) – A gunman fatally shot two bank employees during a robbery Monday morning at a Wachovia branch, authorities said.

Deputies later shot one suspect as he left the bank with a gun held to a female hostage’s head, and they were searching for a possible second suspect, a Jefferson County sheriff’s spokesman told The Birmingham News. The spokesman said two other employees were shot and wounded.

The conditions of the wounded employees and the suspect were not immediately known. Calls to the sheriff’s department and Bessemer police for additional details were not immediately returned.

Wachovia spokeswoman Evelyn Mitchell said bank officials were working with police and the FBI.

“It’s a terrible day for Wachovia,” Mitchell told The Birmingham News. “Our hearts are with our employees and their families right now.”

Bessemer is about 15 miles southwest of Birmingham.

The actual quotation is that the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. It is people who want to acquire more money than they are willing to work for legitimately who are causing these incidents, not the money itself.

Answer by A.Mercer

The quote is “The love of money is the root of all evil”.

Money itself is nothing but an object. It is how bad you want it that can cause a problem. If you put a nice person in a room with a million dollars and then waited. The nice person does not become evil.

The guys in this article were not made evil by money. They were bad guys because they wanted money. If they did the same for stealing a car, you would not say we need to get rid of cars because it makes people steal them. If someone killed another for food then it would be foolish to ban all food because someone might kill to get it. Don’t blame the money, blame the jerks who kill to get it.

Money is not the root of all evil. But, the love of it is.

First, if they claim it has to do with a terrorist investigation, under the unPATRIOT act, they don’t need a warrant. They don’t even need to tell anyone.

Second, I doubt that is what’s happening. Your friend has a virus/trojan/worm. There was a lot of press about it a few months ago.

So he needs to run all the scans he can (virus, malwarebytes) and check the DNS changer virus on the second link below.

Answer by thomas

Congradulations, he was foolish & now they have access to his computer & everything on it.

It wasn’t the FBI. Every game bot out there that you might download has a keylogger &/or other malware hidden in it. That’s how the bot creators make a return off the time they spent creating the program. They let kids use their bots essentually turning them into cows. Once the herd is large enough & several of the cows have gotten fat with levels & GP the program creators start slaughtering accounts every so often. They then sell the GP & accounts they stole. They’ll do it at random so the herd doesn’t realize what’s happening & will sometimes they’ll even pull stuff like what’s happening with your brother. If it was the FBI they’d just show up with a warrent & take his computer. Reporting what’s happening would require your brother admitting his own activities as well which will get him in trouble too.

Answer by Cat – astrophe

The Obama administration is a ‘reactionary’ one. They alter their agendas according to popularity polls and criticism. They also have to wait for instructions from Obama’s globalist backers to see which way to proceed – hence the long intervals between incidents and comments from Obama. It is a puppet administration and a stupid one at that. Even those who venture out without ‘teleprompting’ soon reveal themselves to be the know-nothings that they are.

Answer by gbpackersfan42

OK, first of all, to the previous answer saying what he did was respectful by saying Man Caused Disaster or whatever it is. WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?!?! Since when does anybody have to be respectful to a terrorist? Are you a fucking moron?

To answer the question, they tried to come across as a PC administration, trying to appeal to the sissy ass people who voted for them who don’t want to offend any person on the planet, including those who are insane murderers. Now, that an attempted attack has happened during his term though, he has to show that he’s “tough”. So now they’ll call them terrorists, that is until bin Laden releases a video saying that he takes offense to the word terrorist, then they’ll go to something like, “A bad man whoopsidaisy.”

Answer by Ann Arbor

Well, for the past few years ‘terrorist’ has been used for nearly every crazy that commits some sort of large scale crime. So I think we’re starting to move towards distinguishing between an act of terrorism and some person that is looking to cause damage.

Answer by Curt J

While there is no proof the juror was bought off, it is always a possibility. Then again, there will always be people who don’t or can’t, see what virtually everyone else does.

Personally, I think Blago is about the lowest of the low, but perhaps that juror doesn’t share my feelings.

Hearken back to Clintons legal problems and try to remember how many people were quoted as saying theey would support him no matter what the evidence showed and then look at his trial in the Senate. The House, had already decided that his actions rose to the level required for impeachment and the Senate was supposed to try him on the charges leveled by the House. What happened however, is that the Senate tried him not on what he had done, but on weather or not the House had properly charged him.

The Senate in effect, did what the juror in Blagos case did, they couldn’t see what the House saw, and then ignored the charges and exonerated him, but did find him guilty of the least of the charges.

If they are in a war zone, as armed combatants, they can be held indefinitely.

If they are arrested by local law enforcement then they have to be charged and arraigned.

There’s dozens, if not hundreds of secret US prisons filled with arab ‘terrorists’. An awful lot of them are dying in their care. So the answer is.. anyone, any time!

Answer by birdsnakecatharine

Answer by rand a

they know why they are being detained, I think you mean how long can they be held without formal charges being filed with their lawyers and a trial date. I guess it depends on where they were picked up, other countries dont have the same rules we have, that is why we pack them overseas, they can be held till they arent worth holding, you gotta think that the cia has better things to do than let innocent people, or even ones that arent innocent rot away for no reason, and waste time and money guarding them. that is a job for the us prison system.

Answer by missusjonz

Indefinitely, I think. And I think suspicion is in the eye of the beholder on what exactly constitutes a “suspected terrorist.” So, basically, whoever law enforcement can get a warrant rubber-stamped for.

With the laws we have in place right now, we just better pray that our law-enforcement agencies and officials believe in the constitution, and don’t take it into their heads to enforce a state political party or a state religion by branding “unbelievers” as terrorists.

Answer by karrupf2006

A terrorist in this sense is an unlawfully enemy combatant.

If the person was a soldier captured in arms, he would be held until the cessation of hostilities or until some sort of prisoner swap was arranged.

During a normal war an unlawful enemy combatant would be killed after being interrogated. Of course the capturing body could choose not to kill them and instead try them in front of a military court, but that is up to their discretion.

This is how these things have been done since WWII.

F o r e v e r, with the latest legislation even American citizens can be “detained” without benefit of council. Torture has been ok’ed two, isn’t America glad that they voted for a repuglican congress and a repuglican president. If the supreme court has any nads they will throw this law in the waste basket.

Answer by Stan N

How do you define a terrorist and, where are you referring to; here in the U.S. or in Iran or Syria?

Answer by Chainsaw

Forever. We are at war with terrorism. We can hold captured terrorists until the end of the war on terrorism. If the person is an American citizen or a legal American resident, then they have rights in the court system. If not, too bad. We let you go when we are done with you.

The problem is the liberals on the Supreme Court and Justice Kennedy have applied protections to terrorists to address this. They do not have the authority to do this, but we let them get away with this. Liberals want to give our enemies rights that they have no business having. Pretty disgusting. They are treating terrorism as a legal issue, not a military one.

Average cost is about ~$ 1,000 for both ways, depending on what state you fly from, when you fly, and your final destination in Japan. Tickets are slightly cheaper this year because of the earthquake so there are fewer people visiting Japan.

But you should know that Hatsune Miku is going to the US this July. For Anime Expo in California or something, I think.

Yelling “terrorist” on a plane is equivalent to yelling “fire” in a crowded theater. In that it will create panic and is actually against the law to do so.

Answer by Preston’smama

I believe Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and a bunch of Leprechauns believe it!

Answer by ff9_terra

Of course not, it’s all Political talks to get the mass to agree. Sadly, one gets to realize that nowadays, like 200 years ago, the mass is easily dominated by few poeple. It takes one man with a bit of power and celebrity to control. All what it takes is to initially sound good, speak something that is true, and the following lies slip like butter into people’s minds. No one bothers to think how stupid the claim is. People want to beleive that the enemy is an entity with pure evil intentions that loves and lusts for blood and murder, and that’s how people in the US view the terrorists.

Bare in mind that I am , in no way shape or form defending the Qaeda or any terrorist, but the point i’m trying to make is that these guys, like many others, have been subjugated to the unfair US international policy that you mentioned in your question. The thing is that many of these people have had their wives, children, relative of loved ones being killed unfairly by Israel or the US, and the latter get away with it with no punishment. The thing is that this has been hapening to many many people, but the few that have the potential to strike revenge take it to another level and want to do the same to the US and Israel and kill their civilians.

Let us take this big picture and think from there, let us see what we learned from these facts.

1- The US foreign policy has to be tremendously improved. The gvt should think that the laws they pass affect REAL human beings that have families, loved ones etc…

2- The Unfair and blinded justice that the US gives to Israel is so obvious that it strikes to the eye of the whole world except for the US and its people. Israel has done countless atrocities and the US still supports them blindly. ( nevertheless, palestinians have done bad too, but this isnt the topic of this discussion).

3- Terrorists are people with rage, anger and no feelings. They started by being normal people, but for a reason or another, were convinced that justice needs to be delivered, and since they are weaker than armies, can only cowardly take it on civilians. I condemn they cowardly acts and think the world should take a more rational and mature eye to the problem and fix it once and for all, how? This is what I think:

You can’t kill terrorism, you can only kill its members. Bush’s irrational and childish policy will lead to more violence. By waging the useless war in Iraq, supporting the senselss killing of Lebanse and palestininas by Israel, he is but allowing more people to become terrorists. What we need to do is first to realize that terrorism is here for a reason, it’s not because these guys love to kill, but because they have a desire for vengeance. We can’t kill them, for they do get replaced by more and more people. The way to stop this is to treat them as HUMANS. When palestinian children get killed by Israel, the US should join the world in CONDEMING isrrael instead of supporting it. The US shoudl stop its sensless and selfish oil policies and CIa assassinations worldwide. We need to live in a united world, where international policy is about trading and helping one another, not about surpassing the other and proving to the world that we are better than them. We need to make the world a better place, open your eyes people, we are the next generation, let us not take the same road that is used today, instead, let us look at it from ta fresh viewpoint: Christinas jews, muslims, atheists, people of all religions and ethnics deserve to be treated like humans. No one should be “preferred” than the other. We are all humans, we breath, love, are loved and seek for attention. Let us not forget that people in other nations are humans with feelings, not animals that seek bloodshed for no reason. Let us open our minds and understand that people like Bush want to increase our ignorance and close mindedness by telling us lies and stupidities as the one refereed to in the main question.

Terrorist Attack in Oslo: Mourning

Image basically by Terrorist Attack in Oslo: Mourning

On Friday a terrorist detonated a bomb in the quarter my office is. As of now seven people are reported dead from the explosion. Afterwards the terrorist went to a nearby island where the youth organisation of the Norwegian Labour Party had a summer camp. There he shot and killed at least 86 people. Several more were wounded.

As a part of the mourning people place flowers and candles outside a church in downtown Oslo. This man’s job was to light all the candles put there by mourning citizens.

Why not? “Terrorists” What is the reason you can not figure out any mid-July at the Bohemian Grove would be a perfect terrorist target?

Consider by DonB: Ever notice how people attack someone for misspelled words or errors in grammar on these sites?

Seems to me, that is all some can come up many times when they know the message is the truth. I had someone email once me and called me a “moron” because I misspelled a word relating to “FBI” stats on interracial crime here in the USA. This isn’t a “Spelling Bee” on these. Some of the emails I get back bad-mouthing me look like they were written by their cat.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Bad grammar and gross misspellings are signs of intellectual laziness. The only exception is if English is not your first language; then it can be overlooked. If you expect your opinion to be taken seriously… which is what Y/A is all about… then you need to compose a question or answer in a way that lends credibility to your opinion and reflects at least a modicum of education and intelligence.

it is ur ignorance that he is trying to point out but instead taking it as an advice u r taking it as an insulte. again ignorance. u dont even know the difference between advice and insult or may be u know but want to be an ignorant and thus u r whining about the good thing!!

Answer by Garrett

Usually those people are just a load of snots and snobs, that have nothing better to be doing, then to go around being a jerk to everyone, which, is quite pathetic if you ask me. Plus, they are probably ignorant anyway. There are actual learning disabilities that affect spelling. You just have to remember that their statements are erroneous and irrational. Although, I do agree that good grammar and writing are important. But, I won’t go around being a jerk to people for it, because then, you become the bad guy. Plus, I think people to need to realize that sometimes typos are by mistake.

What do they really hope that this line of thinking will accomplish?

Do they think it will make America safer?

Do they think that America can survive on another Republican Presidency and administration?

How could they think these things?

Answer by The Crow

First and foremost: Some clarification. I’m a conservative as far as voting goes. I’m not yet 18, but when I do turn 18, I will vote for the best Republican candidate or I won’t vote.

Second: I don’t think that many republicans would say that that’s true. If any republican were to say that the democrats actually support the terrorists monetarily, I’d say they were either reeeaaalllly anti-democrat, or just plain stupid. And I think that Georgy boy is more anti-democrat than stupid. He’s not a stupid person, just definitely NOT a good orator.

And third:Those few Republicans that would say that, probably say it thinking (rather hopelessly) that it will damage the Democrats.

Answer by BekindtoAnimals22

It may just be in response to those who dare to mention that GHW Bush was in business with the Bin Laden family in the Carlyle Group in Saudi Arabia for a number of years. A Bin Laden family member helped bail out Arbusto, an oil company previously headed by GW Bush in Texas. They are family friends and investors but supposedly the business ties were cut after 911. Other Bin Laden family members were in the U.S. on 911 and were whisked back to Saudi Arabia in one of the first planes allowed back in the air.

Somehow they have tied the Iraq war with terrorism even though there weren’t any there until we showed up. This has caused many new radical sympathizers but somehow they don’t relate that with our error in attacking Iraq. They are just grasping at straws to show their support for a mistake and have twisted the democrats view of terrorism because they are in favor of being on the offensive no matter how many new terrorists it creates. They fail to acknowledge that nobody was against the war in Afghanistan which was based on killing the terrorists who attacked us.

Answer by gray wolf

All it is is party loyalty gone mad in an election year. It would be great if elections were based on issues instead of party loyalty.

By the way, it’s like the pot calling the kettle black when a neo-con Repub. speaks. You must remember, the current “Republican Party” is not a TRUE Republican Party any longer; they are “neo-cons and VERY dangerous! Even many Republicans are disgusted by the change sooooo

far to the right.

For THE CROW:

Choosing to vote for a “party” and not the best candidate is NOT the way to begin your voting career! Already you have a team mindset that probably came from some programming in your life by an adult or peer group–FORGET IT!

All I’m saying is use your own mind, do your own research, and choose the candidate that touches you the most–Repub., Dem., Green, Socialist, WHATEVER. I wish you good luck.

Answer by worldinspector

They think it will scare dummies into voting Republican.

Another ridiculous example . . . while riding in the car with us recently, my 85-year-old mother-in-law, knowing we are Democrats, suddenly blurted out, “You’re not voting for Hillary, are you?”

I said she wasn’t my first choice, but I would vote for her if she is the Dem nominee, she responded by asking if we were aware that when Bill was President, Hillary decorated the White House Christmas tree with condoms?

“And did you know,” she continued, “that if Hillary becomes President she’ll put our Armed Forces under the United Nations and make them wear United Nations uniforms and that there won’t be any more American Army or Navy?”

Etc.

Where did she “learn” these things?

“I read it in a Christian magazine . . . and I heard it on the radio, too!”

Don’t laugh, last election it succeeded 25 million times.

In Post-NDAA Amerika, What is a Terrorist and Who Can Make You Disappear by Calling You One?

Graphic by means of In Post-NDAA Amerika, What is a Terrorist and Who Can Make You Disappear by Calling You One?

IN POST NDAA AMERIKA, WHAT IS A TERRORIST AND WHO CAN MAKE YOU DISAPPEAR BY

CALLING YOU ONE?

Since corporate fascist puppet president Barack Obama signed the National

Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 into law this past New Year’s

Eve (NDAA: Public Law 112-81), the powers of indefinite detention claimed

under the post-9/11 Authorization for Use of Military Force Act (AUMF:

Public Law 107-40) have been codified. Now the mere suspicion of being a

"terrorist" is sufficient grounds for an American citizen – on American soil

- to be arrested and detained indefinitely without charge or trial. Obvious

questions of constitutionality aside, this should prompt at least the

cautious to ask questions like the following:

1. What is the legal definition of "terrorist"?

2. Who can make you disappear by calling you one?

To answer the first question, we searched the online version of the United

States Code – "the codification of the general and permanent laws of the

United States" – for a definition of "terrorist". And to our amazement, we

didn’t find one. Over 400 references to "terrorist" in the USC, yes. But a

specific definition, no. What we did find is this:

Title 8 Section 1182(a)(3)(B) defines "terrorist activity" but not

"terrorist":

(iii) "Terrorist activity" defined As used in this chapter, the term

"terrorist activity" means any activity which is unlawful under the laws of

the place where it is committed (or which, if it had been committed in the

United States, would be unlawful under the laws of the United States or any

State) and which involves any of the following: (I) The highjacking or

sabotage of any conveyance (including an aircraft, vessel, or vehicle). (II)

The seizing or detaining, and threatening to kill, injure, or continue to

detain, another individual in order to compel a third person (including a

governmental organization) to do or abstain from doing any act as an

explicit or implicit condition for the release of the individual seized or

detained. (III) A violent attack upon an internationally protected person

(as defined in section 1116(b)(4) of title 18) or upon the liberty of such a

person. (IV) An assassination. (V) The use of any – (a) biological agent,

chemical agent, or nuclear w!

eapon or device, or (b) explosive, firearm, or other weapon or dangerous

device (other than for mere personal monetary gain), with intent to

endanger, directly or indirectly, the safety of one or more individuals or

to cause substantial damage to property. (VI) A threat, attempt, or

conspiracy to do any of the foregoing. (iv) "Engage in terrorist activity"

defined As used in this chapter, the term "engage in terrorist activity"

means, in an individual capacity or as a member of an organization – (I) to

commit or to incite to commit, under circumstances indicating an intention

to cause death or serious bodily injury, a terrorist activity; (II) to

prepare or plan a terrorist activity; (III) to gather information on

potential targets for terrorist activity; (IV) to solicit funds or other

things of value for – (aa) a terrorist activity; (bb) a terrorist

organization described in clause (vi)(I) or (vi)(II); or (cc) a terrorist

organization described in clause (vi)(III), unless t!

he solicitor can demonstrate by clear and convincing evidence !

that he

did not know, and should not reasonably have known, that the organization

was a terrorist organization;

(V) to solicit any individual – (aa) to engage in conduct otherwise

described in this subsection; (bb) for membership in a terrorist

organization described in clause (vi)(I) or (vi)(II); or (cc) for membership

in a terrorist organization described in clause (vi)(III) unless the

solicitor can demonstrate by clear and convincing evidence that he did not

know, and should not reasonably have known, that the organization was a

terrorist organization; or

(VI) to commit an act that the actor knows, or reasonably should know,

affords material support, including a safe house, transportation,

communications, funds, transfer of funds or other material financial

benefit, false documentation or identification, weapons (including chemical,

biological, or radiological weapons), explosives, or training – (aa) for the

commission of a terrorist activity; (bb) to any individual who the actor

knows, or reasonably should know, has committed or plans to commit a

terrorist activity; (cc) to a terrorist organization described in subclause

(I) or (II) of clause (vi) or to any member of such an organization; or (dd)

to a terrorist organization described in clause (vi)(III), or to any member

of such an organization, unless the actor can demonstrate by clear and

convincing evidence that the actor did not know, and should not reasonably

have known, that the organization was a terrorist organization. (v)

"Representative" defined As used in this par!

agraph, the term "representative" includes an officer, official, or

spokesman of an organization, and any person who directs, counsels,

commands, or induces an organization or its members to engage in terrorist

activity. (vi) "Terrorist organization" defined As used in this section, the

term "terrorist organization" means an organization – (I) designated under

section 1189 of this title; (II) otherwise designated, upon publication in

the Federal Register, by the Secretary of State in consultation with or upon

the request of the Attorney General or the Secretary of Homeland Security,

as a terrorist organization, after finding that the organization engages in

the activities described in subclauses (I) through (VI) of clause (iv); or

(III) that is a group of two or more individuals, whether organized or not,

which engages in, or has a subgroup which engages in, the activities

described in subclauses (I) through (VI) of clause (iv).

I’m no attorney and I don’t play one on television. But after reading the

above, it seems to me that the short answer to the question "What is the

legal definition of terrorist?" is "That depends."

Now on to the second question: Who can make you disappear by calling you

one?

According to the Washington Post’s TOP SECRET AMERICA project, there are "45

government organizations (for example, the FBI) engaged in top-secret work

[that can] be broken down into 1,271 sub-units (for example, the Terrorist

Screening Center of the FBI)." I’m pretty sure they can. But they also

mention "4,058 government organizations involved in domestic

counterterrorism and homeland security" including 2,880 federal

organizations that work at the state level, such as the FBI’s Joint

Terrorism Task Forces (JTTFs), plus 818 state and 360 local organizations.

I’m pretty sure they can, too. And then of course there’s the "1,931

companies engaged in top-secret work for the government." I’d wager some or

all of them can, as well.

projects.washingtonpost.com/top-secret-america/articles/m…

And that’s not all. We also have to consider the Nationwide Suspicious

Activity Reporting Initiative (NSI):

nsi.ncirc.gov/

Using NaSI SARs (Suspicious Activity Reports), just about anyone can drop

the dime the makes you disappear: a hateful former spouse, a jealous or

jilted lover, that co-worker you’re always competing with, or maybe just a

nosey neighbor. All they have to do is fill out one of these forms and

click "Submit":
