A US citizen who commits a terrorist act in the United States. Most “left-wing domestic terrorists” try to make a statement by destroying a building but usually try to avoid killing or injuring anyone. The most common form of domestic terrorist is the conservative domestic terrorist such as McVeigh, Eric Robert Rudolph, the countless abortion clinic bombers to just name a small few. Right-wing terrorists generally try to kill as many people as possible.

Yes, it’s a good question because the patriot act allows the government to basically throw out the 4th amendment and wire tap and search people that are suspected terrorists without warrants or probable cause. Normally to be able to throw out the 4th amendment (i.e. wiretapping, etc. like FISA), one party has to be outside the US so therefore they would have less of an expectation of privacy and terrorists can be much more easily surveillanced because of this. But when the act also includes domestic terrorism, it broadens the scope for law enforcement to search and wiretap American citizens within the US, without probable cause. They can basically decide someone who they want to go after, is a “domestic terrorist” (even low level criminals if they say so) and take away people’s constitutional rights. Although I completely condemn illegal activity in general, this act gives the government way more power to go after people when they normally would be constitutionally restricted to do so. It makes it a slippery slope. So yes we should definitely question what the exact definition of a “domestic terrorist” is.

Evil people will always exist in the world. We can have the most strict and evasive laws in the world, and evil people will still get away with doing evil things. But once we surrender our personal freedoms, we will never get them back.

Reputation by way of Center for Consumer Helps Terrorist Groups Raise Money–Mock Ad

The Center for Consumer Freedom took out a full-page ad in the New York Times calling the Humane Society of the United States "terrorists." Their ad used a six-step flow chart to try to make that connection.

In response I created a little contest called “Six Degrees of Consumer Freedom.” I asked you all to trump CCF by connecting them to real terrorists in fewer steps… and <a href="http://www.greenisthenewred.com/blog/2008/12/15/center-for-consumer-freedom-helps-terrorist-groups-raise-money/"made this mock ad based on our winning answer!
