I’m currently being charged with DWI. I’m planning on enlisting in the U.S. Army, but I obviously need to handle my legal matters first. Assuming I’m convicted, how much time must pass before I’m ellgible to enlist? I’ve heard one year from conviction date, but if anyone has any other info, I’d appreciate it.

all of your legal punishment must be served..up to and including probation,fines and community service.
a DWI may even prevent you from enlisting period, and you will definitely not get a Clearance at first.

a dwi can be taken care of with a waiver.
just make sure if you have any juvinile records dont say shit about them. this is what the army will do. they will push you to bring up things in your security clearence that where explunged, and tell you that anything that was explunged will come up in their “fbi” background check. they will tell you what your reading right now is allso bullshit. but its simple. DO NOT TELL THEM ABOUT EXPLUNGED RECORDS OR INCIDENTS. they wil lsay that they do matter, because they want to use them ageinst you. i spoke to a freind of mine that is pretty high in the ranks and found this out. plus they ravaged me when i enlisted about it. i made the dumb mistake of telling them about a theft 4 on my juvinile record and had to search for records of it that didnt exist. they will never see it, there for, it never happened!! for those of you who have had a juvinile record explunged. remember the peice of paper you signed saying that no goverment agency can veiw it, and it no longer happened? the army will say “ahh we can still veiw it” and say you will go to jail when they find out and you didnt tell them..
im a pussy so i just came clean on everey juvinile record i have and got waivers for them was an m.i.p and a theft.

anyways heres a motto someone told me and is good to remember on the questions they ask you like “have you ever done drugs”?
answering no is better then yes but im not telling you to lie. dont get thrown in millitary prison.

DO NOT LIE THOUGH. DONT SAY YOU DONT HAVE JUVINILE RECORDS, JUST SAY “I DONT HAVE TO DISCUSS EXPLUNGED RECORDS WITH YOU SIR”
and never lie to a superior its a good way to end up behind bars for life.
